The Gotham Independent Film Awards will honor the cast of Aaron Sorkin's Netflix film The Trial of the Chicago 7 with its first-ever ensemble tribute.

In a newly created honor, the IFP Gotham Awards will salute The Trial of the Chicago 7 with the Ensemble Tribute at next month’s virtual ceremony.

In a COVID-free alternate universe, the world would have already seen Chloe Zhao’s blockbuster directorial debut in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals.” The film was originally scheduled for release in November before being delayed several times all the way into November 2021, where it is currently set up. And of all the Phase 4 features, “Eternals” might be the most interesting, as it is a brand-new franchise with a superstar ensemble.

Aaron Sorkin brings audiences back to the peak of the Vietnam War protests in the late 1960s with his courtroom drama The Trial of The Chicago 7. The Netflix film, which stars Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jeremy Strong, follows seven activists as they testify against charges of crossing state lines and inciting violence outside of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago.
