Chloe Zhao Was The One To Approach Marvel Studios About A Film: “I Just Wanted To Work With That Team”

Clayton Davis The North Carolina Film Critics Association has announced this year’s winners, with A24’s “Minari” nabbing best picture — its first prize of the awards season. The film took four awards overall, including best supporting actress (Youn Yuh-jung), original screenplay (Lee Isaac Chung) and the Ken Hanke Memorial Tarheel Award for actor Will Patton.“Nomadland” filmmaker Chloé Zhao continued her winning streaking, taking best director, in addition to adapted screenplay.

Until proven otherwise, it’s still strange to think that Chloé Zhao is going to be able to successfully transition from making incredibly intimate films like “Nomadland” and “The Rider” to superhero blockbusters like “Eternals.” But yet, come November, that’s exactly what’s going to happen, as Zhao is the filmmaker behind the aforementioned Marvel Studios film.

Chloe Zhao led Eternals, which was supposed to come out last year, is gearing up for a release in the latter half of 2020. The highly-awaited movie marks the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) debut of Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Kit Harington amongst several others.
