A Place in the Sun's Danni Menzies shares heartache over 'inspirational' Jonnie Irwin's illness

A Place in The Sun host Danni Menzies has opened up about her heartache following Jonnie Irwin's terminal cancer diagnosis.
Jonnie, 49, went public with his prognosis in November 2022 after being told by doctors he had just months to live. The dad-of-three had been given just six months left to live in 2020 after his lung cancer spread to his brain, but he decided not to tell anyone about it and continue on as normal.
Perthshire-born TV personality Danni gushed over her former colleague and described the star as an “inspiration” to her. Speaking to the Express as she prepared to meet fans at The Ideal Home show, she spoke about the 'heartbreaking' news of her co-stars illness.
She said: “Yeah, Jonnie is… It's incredibly heartbreaking.
“But Jonnie's such a legend, the way that he's been super strong,” she continued. “And you know, he's still managing to get out and work. Yeah, he's an absolute inspiration, Jonnie. And I love him a lot.”
Speaking of her co-stars, Danni spoke about her love for fellow Channel 4 co-workers despite the fact they don't get to work together often. The 33-year-old gave special shout-outs to Lee Juggurnauth, Jasmine Harman and Scarlette Douglas.
“I love all the presenters on the show, truly,” she explained. “We might not get to see each other all that often, but we all get on really, really well.
“I think to do a show like that, you genuinely care about people and their dream. And so there's not a bad egg, you know? They're all really good eggs.
“I probably get to see Lee a little bit more than the others - we go to the same gym. So we catch up now and again for a cup of coffee when we're at the gym. We also had a little party a while ago and it was really nice to see Jasmine - I hadn’t seen her in a
