Emerald Fennell accepted the best original screenplay award for Promising Young Woman at the 2021 Oscars on Sunday. "So, the only speech I ever wrote is when I was 10, and I looked to see if there would be anything useful from it, but unfortunately I only thanked Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell, who was my very supportive husband," joked Fennell at the podium in front of the socially distanced audience.

Jon Burlingame In one of the only upsets of the evening, “Fight for You,” H.E.R.’s end-title theme for “Judas and the Black Messiah,” won the best song Academy Award Sunday night.The 23-year-old singer-songwriter was clearly shocked by the win but thanked her parents, noting, “those days of listening to Sly and the Family Stone, Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye — they really paid off!”The soul-flavored song by the singer and her co-writers, D’Mile and Tiara Thomas, featured under the end titles

H.E.R. is an Oscar winner!

“Fight for You” is taking home Oscar’s best original song at the 93rd ceremony from the Warner Bros. movie Judas and the Black Messiah.

In an emotional speech, Fennell apologised to Oscars producer Steven Soderbergh for not having written a speech, saying the only one she had written was when she was 10 and much of it was no longer relevant.
