'007' Casting Director Reveals Requirement for Next James Bond, & It Eliminates Some Fan-Favorite Actors

A casting director who will help select the next actor to play James Bond in the popular film franchise laid out one major requirement for Daniel Craig‘s replacement.
The 55-year-old actor has played the spy since 2006′s Casino Royale. He bowed out of the role with 2021′s No Time to Die. Now, fans are waiting with baited breath to see who will replace him.
In a new interview, casting director Debbie McWilliams revealed what they are looking for as they search for a new actor to accept the mantle.

According to Debbie, the team is looking for an actor who has some life experience. That means, they’re looking for someone older to take over.
“When we started, it was a slightly different feel,” she told RadioTimes. “We did look at a lot of younger actors, and I just don’t think they had the gravitas. They didn’t have the experience, they didn’t have the mental capacity to take it on, because it’s not just the part they’re taking on, it’s a massive responsibility.”
She continued, saying, “So we kind of scrubbed that idea and went back to the drawing board and started again.”
They added that they aren’t necessarily looking for a star with countless blockbusters to their name.
“Timothy Dalton was known, but he was known as a Shakespearean actor, really. Pierce [Brosnan] was known, but that was basically from television. Roger Moore was known from television. Sean Connery wasn’t [known] – nobody had ever heard of him,” she said of previous James Bond actors. “A certain audience had heard of Daniel Craig, but much more the kind of independent cinema audience.
