A young man was murdered after trying to act as a peacemaker when a fight broke out following a row over a car, a jury has heard. Badri Issa, 22, had been on his way to an exercise class with his pal Omar Jeylaani when Raami Mohamed, the driver of another car, gestured for him to pull over, a court was told.
The two cars pulled over in a lay-by in Moss Side, and in the ensuing dispute Mr Issa was stabbed in the chest. Manchester Crown Court was told he had tried to ‘calm things down’ and told them to ‘chill’.
Prosecutors said there had been a ‘background of hostility’ between Mr Jeylaani and Mr Mohamed following a ‘dispute about a car’. “Nothing that occurred in that background gives rise to the slightest possible justification for what happened to Badri Issa that night,” prosecutor Richard Pratt KC said.

Raami Mohamed, 21, and a second man, Kevell Blake, 20, who was with Mr Mohamed that night, both deny murder. Jurors heard Mr Issa was in a blue Seat Ibiza being driven by his friend Mr Jeylaani on the evening of October 25 last year.
Mr Pratt said the pair were on their way to an exercise class, which was ‘something they did regularly’. He said that as they drove along Princess Road, Mr Jeylaani noticed another driver, who he recognised as Mr Mohamed, ‘gesturing’ towards him to pull over.
Both cars turned onto Moss Lane East and stopped in a lay-by. Mr Mohamed got out of his car, a white Seat Ibiza, and approached Mr Jeylaani shouting ‘what have you done?’, the jury heard.
Mr Pratt said Mr Issa then got out of the car. “It is the prosecution case, supported by evidence which we will describe and call,
