Katie had been preparing food when she lost control of the kitchen device, leading to the painful injury.
"Mandolin 1 - 0 Katie," she captioned an Instagram snap of her sore hand, in which the middle finger looks to have been the one caught by the utensil. "I swear mandolines, or me using one, should now officially be banned!" she added, concluded the post with a sick face emoji due to the gore.
"Worst injury ever sustained." It was revealed earlier this year that singer Katie - who performed on the long-standing talent series alongside the likes of Matt Cardle, One Direction and Rebecca Ferguson - has recently trained in law and graduated with a postgraduate diploma in law, as she plans to sue Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment. She had previously claimed that she had only recently “found the courage” to perform for the first time in 10 years after having therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Katie has since claimed that Simon amongst other producers breached their duty of care towards her when she appeared on the show. Discussing her time on the show, the mum-of-one told The Times : "The show ruined my life. There are so many of us who have been so trapped and it’s not fair, there was a huge imbalance in power.
