Herschel Walker abortion story jumped on by media after it avoided video of Warnock, wife abuse claim in 2020

An "October surprise" rocked the Georgia Senate race earlier this month with the allegation that Republican candidate Herschel Walker paid for a girlfriend's abortion in 2009, which he has flatly denied. Walker, who has pushed a staunch pro-life platform on the campaign trail, has been accused by his liberal critics of being a hypocrite while Republicans have largely circled the wagons.  The RealClearPolitics average of polls has his Democratic opponent, incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, up three points as the race has largely tightened in recent weeks.

Virginia state lawmaker to introduce bill making it a crime for parents not to affirm their LGBT child

As the battle over parental rights and protections for LGBT students heats up in Virginia, one state delegate said she will introduce a bill in the legislature's next session that would make it a crime for a parent or guardian not to affirm their child's sexual orientation or gender identity.  The move is in response to Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin's updated "model policies" on transgender students, which require students to use bathrooms and join sports teams based on their sex at birth, as opposed to their gender identity.  Elizabeth Guzman running for election for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 31st District.

WaPo columnist mocks GOP 'fearmongering' on crime: Living in a red state 'much more likely to get you killed'

A column in The Washington Post claimed voters concerned about violent crime should move to blue states, because "living in a Republican state is much more likely to get you killed." Columnist Dana Milbank attempted to debunk GOP messaging on crime this election by arguing that crime wasn't soaring but actually declining, and claiming it was higher in red states.  The columnist also suggested the Republican focus on crime was racist and "paranoid." "If it’s the fall of a year ending in an even number, you can be pretty sure Republicans will try to scare you with paranoia about crime — specifically, violent crime committed by dark-skinned people," he began. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 14: Police converge on the scene of a shooting in Brooklyn, one of numerous during the day, on July 14, 2021 in New York City.  (Getty Images) Knocking Republican "fearmongering" about crime, Milbank claimed the truth was, "violent crime is not soaring, in fact, it might be declining," "most violent crime is committed by White people," and "violent crime is generally worse in Republican-run states." He cited incomplete data from the FBI's annual crime report which found crime in 2021 was stable and overall violent crime had declined by 1 percent from 2020, although homicides were up.Though Milbank admitted the numbers weren't "highly reliable."  The crime report actually lacks complete data from nearly 40% of police departments nationwide.

After OPEC oil cut, Washington Post claims Biden’s foreign policy with Saudi Arabia has ‘failed’ ‘badly’

The Washington Post editorial board did not mince words about President Joe Biden’s attempts to persuade the Saudi Arabian government into helping with U.S. energy policy, saying the administration "failed" "badly." The board claimed that OPEC – heavily influenced by the Saudis – recently slashing "crude oil production by 2 million barrels per day," is a "setback" for Biden agenda, the United States and its allies.  The Saturday editorial stated that OPEC’s decision "is not quite as big of a shock as the embargo OPEC imposed on the United States between October 1973 and March 1974.
