A woman has been left injured after a fall on cliffs near Puffin Cove in the Thurso area.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Thursday following reports that the injured walker may have suffered from a broken ankle. It's understood that the female who was with a male companion had slipped on a steep grassy slope while descending the cliffs in the East of Melvich.
It comes just over week after an 18-year-old woman fell to her death from a cliff in Thurso at Victoria Walk, just 13 miles away from Puffin Cove.
Alesha Wright was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident which also left Dominic Long, 26, with serious injuries on Monday, July 11.
Thurso RNLI responded to the emergency at 12.32pm on Thursday and arrived on the scene with lifeboat 'The Taylors' at 1.04pm. Due to the tricky position of the casualty an inflatable ‘Y’ Boat had to be launched as part of the rescue with three crew members on board, which was carefully manoeuvred through the rocks to a beach area.
Two of the crew made their way up the cliff slopes to where the female was located and were met by two Scottish Ambulance Service staff who had the casualty under their care.
Coastguard teams were then able to extracted the woman up the cliffs to a waiting Ambulance at around 2.20pm as part of a difficult rescue.
