Getting towards the end of the year can feel like waiting in a queue for a new start. There’s no point only now starting that hobby, eating healthier, booking that trip that’s been in the back of your mind for months, is there?
Spending long nights trying to stay cocooned in cosy blankets with an onslaught of festive films doesn’t exactly lend itself to getting out of your comfort zone. But this week has brought a thorough shake up of my own personal snow globe.
Still weeks out from the clock striking 12 and pushing us into… 2024… I’ve been in the midst of a major flat move. Naturally, hauling furniture to and fro has blown in a dash of chaos along with the crispy autumn leaves at the door, but it’s also welcomed the start of an exciting chapter.

It’s been an opportunity to say goodbye to the old, invite in the new – and more than anything, get out of my comfort zone and try something different. A refreshing moment, and one that I didn’t need to wait for some arbitrary date, like January 1, to get on with.
I’m as guilty as the next person of putting off stepping out when the water feels nice and warm. And although a cold plunge might be a shock to the system, it might be just the jolt needed to kickstart a smile, happy memory, or a completely different era.
