The White House has spoken out following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The monarch died on Thursday (September 8) at her Scottish residence Balmoral Castle, surrounded by her family, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
Amid the news about Elizabeth‘s ailing health, the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden had been briefed about the situation. Now, the White House Press Secretary is speaking out about the sad loss.

“Our hearts and our thoughts go to the family members of the Queen, goes to the people of United Kingdom. I don’t want to get ahead of what the President is going to say,” Karine Jean-Pierre said at the end of Thursday’s press briefing.
She added that Biden will be making his own comments soon.
“Our relationship with the people of the United Kingdom–and this is something that the president has said himself–has grown stronger and stronger,” she said (via ABC News). “And it is one of our– the United Kingdom is one of our closest allies.”
