King Charles‘ staff at Clarence House is reportedly at risk of being let go as he transitions to Buckingham Palace.
The 73-year-old King ascended the throne after his mother Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96 last week.
Charles and his wife Queen Consort, Camila will establish themselves at Buckingham Palace, which leaves both of their current staffs’ jobs in a precarious position.

According to a report by The Guardian, some staff members received a letter informing them that their jobs were made redundant.
The letter was written by Sir Clive Alderton and read in part: “The change in role for our principals will also mean change for our household … The portfolio of work previously undertaken in this household supporting the former Prince of Wales’s personal interests, former activities and household operations will no longer be carried out, and the household … at Clarence House will be closed down. It is therefore expected that the need for the posts principally based at Clarence House, whose work supports these areas will no longer be needed.”
Clive is the King’s private secretary. He added, “I appreciate that this is unsettling news and I wanted to let you know of the support that is available at this point.”
Reportedly, staff that provide “direct, close, personal support and advice” will maintain their role. Up to 100 staff members might end up losing their jobs.
