Margot Robbie‘s Barbie is the biggest movie of the summer and is already breaking box office records for the year.
Margot Robbie has said she was teased by her friends for not having a kissing scene with her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling. In the film directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie (Robbie) and Ken (Gosling) never share a kiss on screen, which became a source of ridicule in Robbie’s circle of friends.Asked by People whether she was happy she didn’t have to fully kiss Gosling in the film, Robbie, who also served as a producer, said: “Uh no! That didn’t feel like a win for me.“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’”She added: “I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list].’”Gosling, however, was happy with how they navigated their relationship. “It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be,” the actor said.
Ryan Gosling’s Ken may play second fiddle in the new ‘Barbie’ movie, but according to Margot Robbie, who plays the titular character in the summer blockbuster, “The Notebook” heartthrob’s lips were the real star of the film, which pulled down $22.3 million ahead of opening weekend — all without a single smooch between the two leads. Robbie admitted to People in June that not being able to kiss Gosling on-screen “didn’t feel like a win to me.”Robbie’s friends took the news even harder than her, having high hopes from the beginning that the producer of the film could work some on-screen magic in her favor.
Margot Robbie has revealed that she once faked her own death to scare a babysitter.Robbie, who stars in Greta Gerwig’s recently released Barbie movie, shared the amusing (yet slightly disturbing) story during an interview with BBC Radio 2.“We got a new babysitter and I wanted my old babysitter back, Talia, who was like 16 and I thought she was so cool,” the actress told presenter Zoe Ball. “And then we got this much older lady in and I was just not happy about it, and she told me to go have a bath and I didn’t want to and she was very cranky and I thought, ‘I’m gonna show you’.”Robbie continued: “And so I got a big kitchen knife and the ketchup and I sprawled out naked on the tiles, covered myself in ketchup and put the kitchen knife [near her body].
the New York Times. “Just come do the ‘Barbie’ movie, I’ll buy you a present every day.”Gosling revealed that the appealing offer “started as a joke in a text.”“There was suddenly this pink present from Barbie to Ken, every day, for a very long shoot. It felt unsustainable,” the “La La Land” actor told the outlet.
Margot Robbie admitted in a recent interview she was a "dramatic" child who once pretended to be dead — complete with ketchup blood and a kitchen knife — to get rid of a babysitter she didn’t like. "We got a new babysitter, and I wanted my old babysitter back, Talia, who was like 16. And I thought she was so cool," the Australian native told BBC Radio 2.

press tour on a high note. For the VIP photo call following the European movie premiere, Robbie swapped her luxe fur stole-adorned Vivienne Westwood gown for a slinky red mini dress, and it just might be her best red carpet look yet.You might be thinking: What about the glittering black Solo in the Spotlight Barbie replica dress Robbie wore to the LA premiere? Margot Robbie not only stars in the upcoming Barbie, she’s also a producer. Which means, like her character, she often got a little carried away.
Peter Debruge Chief Film Critic Check out the brain on Barbie! Sure, she’s just a doll, but that doesn’t mean she has to be an airhead. Therein lies “Lady Bird” director Greta Gerwig’s inspired, 21st-century solution to bringing one of America’s most iconic playthings to life on the big screen. Combine that with the casting of Margot Robbie in the title role, and “Barbie” is already starting out on the right, perfectly arched foot. So what if this high-concept comedy falls a bit flat in the final stretch? Barbie’s strength as a brand comes from her aspirational appeal. While some have rightly criticized the doll for setting unrealistic beauty standards, Barbie also showed girls they can do and be anything, as different models have portrayed her as president, a rocket scientist, even trans. You know who else sets unrealistic beauty standards? Movie stars. Like Barbie, they serve as role models, which is what makes Gerwig’s take on the ultra-popular toy line so darn smart. Robbie might be a dead-ringer for Barbie, but her moxie powers the performance. Gerwig has made the kind of family film she surely wishes had been available to her when she was a girl, sneaking a message (several of them, really) inside Barbie’s hollow hourglass figure.
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are opening up about all things Barbie ahead of the movie’s release.
Alex Jones made an announcement about The One Show at the end of the latest programme that featured a star-studded guest lineup.
