The New York Times and Serial Productions have announced a new three-part audio mini-series titled We Were Three. Described in a press release as “an intimate look at a family in the aftermath of the pandemic,” it’s hosted by This American Life producer Nancy Updike and scored by the inimitable Sophie Allison (aka Soccer Mommy).

Mitchell’s doc bows this weekend at the New York Film Festival. Mitchell, a film critic who has written for LA Weekly and The New York Times takes on the role of writer, director and narrator as he traces the history of Black representation in cinema. The documentary examines Black cultural achievement in the 1960s and ’70s and debunks the notion that Black cinema in that period only meant Blaxploitation films.

A 2022 Boston Beer brewing master has been crowned. Baltimore, Maryland-based brewery Checkerspot Brewing Company has been named the winner of Samuel Adams’ 11th Brewing the American Dream experienceship. Checkerspot will make its first appearance as Boston Beer’s newest champion at the Great American Beer Festival this weekend in Denver, Colorado.

William Earl Variety has announced the lineup for its annual Business of Broadway breakfast presented by City National Bank in New York on Oct. 17. Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson will join the event for a keynote conversation about their collaboration on the revival of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson,” currently playing on Broadway. The programming will also include a Broadway producers panel moderated by Erik Piecuch, senior vice president and entertainment banking leader of City National Bank. The panel will feature Lee Daniels (“Ain’t No Mo’”), Cindy Tolan (“Death of a Salesman”), LaChanze (“Kimberly Akimbo” and “Topdog/Underdog”) and Ken Davenport (“A Beautiful Noise”). The producers will speak about their experiences premiering new productions on Broadway this season and how the business has changed since Broadway’s return.

After the Season 2 premiere of “Call Her Daddy” on Sept. 28, the podcast hit No. 1 on the Spotify charts in English-speaking countries worldwide. As of Tuesday (Oct. 4), it’s the top Spotify podcast in the United States, Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In the U.S., Cooper’s show is currently ahead of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the perennial chart-topper on the streaming service.

Chopra, 40, moderated a panel at the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington on Friday, and talked with Vice President Kamala Harris about the importance of women’s rights.  "Do you hear that sound? That is the sound of no mansplaining, ladies," Chopra joked in the beginning of the session, according to Reuters.  "The Matrix Resurrections" star discussed how men patronize women and "mansplains" them.  Vice President Harris suggested female Democrats need to fight for reproductive rights and noted how voting for Democratic senators in November’s midterm elections is important. Pink joined forces with Foo Fighters and Queen at the second Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles last night (September 27).The singer performed a number of tracks with different artists throughout the night at the Kia Forum including Heart‘s Nancy Wilson for their track ‘Barracuda’ before she joined Queen and the Foo Fighters for a rousing cover of ‘Somebody To Love’ – the song that Hawkins covered himself over the years.Later she teamed up with the Foo Fighters to sing ‘The Pretender’ during their main set at the finale.
