Washington scored a nail-biting victory over Oregon on Saturday and, with it, claimed the most-watched college football game of the week.
With more than 7M viewers on ABC, the matchup is now the 11th this season to surpass the 7M milestone. That’s more than all of last season, when only 10 games had the honor.
The previous games to hit this milestone include Oklahoma-Texas and Alabama-Texas A&M in Week 6; USC-Colorado in Week 5; Colorado-Oregon and Ohio State-Notre Dame in Week 4; Colorado State-Colorado in Week 3; Texas-Alabama and Nebraska-Colorado in Week 2; FSU-LSU and Colorado-TCU in Week 1.
Notre Dame’s win over USC came in a close second with 6.43M viewers on NBC. Those were by far the most-watched games of the week, seeing as the third place spot went to Texas A&M vs. Tennessee with just 4.38M viewers on CBS.
Rounding out the top five were Indiana-Michigan with 3.55M viewers and Arkansas-Alabama with 3.43M viewers.
Colorado notched its least-watched game of the season, with 3.29M people tuning in for their frustrating loss to Stanford in double overtime. Of course, the matchup was still in the top six, which is quite impressive for Deion Sanders’ team. It indicates the nation is still watching, albeit less so, despite a rocky couple of games.
As always, Nielsen doesn’t measure SEC Network, Pac-12 Network, ACC Network, or CBS Sports Network. That’s why you won’t see games like Florida vs. South Carolina on this week’s rankings.
