LOS ANGELES -- After his film “Another Round” won the best international feature Oscar, director Thomas Vinterberg wiped away tears while dedicating part of his acceptance speech to his late daughter who died a couple years ago.“We ended up making this movie for her, as her monument,” a tearful Vinterberg said from the stage at Union Station in Los Angeles on Sunday night.Vinterberg said his daughter, Ida, died in a highway accident four days into the project.

"Fight For You" from Judas and the Black Messiahtook home the Academy Award for best original song during the 2021 OscarsSunday night. Academy Awards fulfilled many expectations but threw in a couple of surprise wins in an unusual ceremony on Sunday evening. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Oscars moved out of their usual venue, the Dolby Theatre, and were based out of Los Angeles’s Union Station instead.

LOS ANGELES -- Anthony Hopkins has won his first Oscar since he took one home for playing Hannibal Lecter.Despite his pedigree, Hopkins was a surprise winner.The late Chadwick Boseman was expected to win the award, which in a very rare move from the academy was the last to be handed out this year instead of best picture.It was also an anti-climax on a show where Hopkins wasn’t present to accept the trophy.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 editor Alan Baumgarten topped the dramatic feature editing category ofAmerican Cinema Editors's 71st ACE Eddie Awards, whilePalm Springs'sMatthew Friedman and Andrew Dickler won the category for best edited comedic feature, during Saturday's virtual ceremony. This is the third ACE Award for Baumgarten, who also accepted Eddies for American Hustle in 2014 and Recount in 2009.

Chris Willman Music WriterLuke Bryan won the top prize, entertainer of the year, at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, accepting the honor via remote from Los Angeles, where he had just made a surprise return to his “American Idol” hosting duties after recovering from COVID-19.Bryan had publicly announced only six days ago that he was diagnosed with the virus.

Luke Bryan took home the Entertainer of the Year award at Sunday night's ACM Awards. Bryan was nominated alongside Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, Eric Church and Chris Stapleton for the night's top trophy.The 44-year-old country singer and judge was set to perform at the 56th annual awards show before receiving a positive COVID-19 diagnosis earlier this week.«I am amazingly surprised.
