Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after a child was left injured by flares set off by protestors at a Bury AFC cup match last week. The youngster and a footballer sustained minor injuries after the flares were set off into Bury AFC's ground during an FA Cup qualifier on September 3.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police are now continuing to appeal for witnesses following the Bury AFC v North Shields football match. At around 1pm, police received reports that a group of male protestors outside had been hurling flares towards the inside of the stadium.
Enquiries are still ongoing to identify the males involved after a child and a footballer sustained minor injuries. Police added they were keen to 'reassure the community' that it was an isolated incident and is not connected to the reports of fireworks being set off towards homes and cars nearby, which left many residents 'fearful in their own homes.'

Police reissued their appeal on Wednesday (September 7) as enquiries into the incident continue. Anyone with any information that could assist investigations are being urged to contact police immediately.
Chief Inspector Samantha Goldie, of GMP Bury Division, previously said: "Whilst we anticipate protests taking place and facilitate them where possible, we absolutely do not tolerate violence. This is a public event and ultimately we want everyone to be safe and have an enjoyable time.
