'Unseasonably warm' weather in Greater Manchester with top temperatures over 20C

'Unseasonably warm' weather is set to hit Greater Manchester as temperatures are expected to exceed 20C this weekend. Sunny spells are in store for the region with little chance of rain - although it will be cloudy in parts, according to the Met Office.
Top temperatures of 21C are forecast in Manchester, and as the wind eases off, it will feel warmer. Throughout the weekend, the chance of rain is remains low at less than 5 pc.
Across the North West, the weather is expected to stay mostly dry with warm sunny spells. However, while we will see a period of warm settled weather, a weather front over Scotland will bring heavy and persistent rain with an amber warning for rain in place.

National Rail has warned that severe weather may affect train services across the north of England and Scotland today (October 7) and on Sunday. Rail passengers in Greater Manchester are currently facing a second day of train delays and cancellations.
Overhead line problems between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport were first reported during the Friday morning rush hour. The damage to the wires meant trains were either delayed or cancelled through the day. Engineers are said to still be at the scene today.
The warm weather in Greater Manchester is expected to last all weekend, turning cooler on Monday (October 8), but rising back to 20C on Tuesday. The likelihood of rain will remain low in Manchester until Wednesday when widespread rain is forecast across Northern parts of the UK.
