Two people have been arrested in a 25-year-old murder probe into the death of a baby boy.
Found strangled and wrapped in plastic near Warrington on the morning of March 14, 1998, the infant was believed to have been just a few hours old when he tragically died. Named Callum by detectives, the baby's parents were never traced and his true identity remains a mystery.
Now seven months after a renewed appeal for information, Cheshire Police have confirmed two people have been arrested in relation to the death, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A spokesman for the force said: “Detectives investigating the death of a baby in Warrington in 1998 have arrested two people in relation to the incident. Baby ‘Callum’ was discovered in woodland in the Callands area of the town in March 1998. A murder investigation was subsequently launched by detectives from Cheshire Police.
“On Friday, July 28, 2023, detectives arrested a man and a woman from Liverpool in connection with the incident. Both individuals have since been released on conditional bail.”
The murder of Baby Callum sparked a massive investigation in the 90s, as thousands of people were interviewed and a special hotline number set up for anyone offering information. A woman, described as "upset and emotional" called and claimed to be the baby's mother - but she was never traced and her identity remains unknown. A distressed girl in a beige coat spotted in the area at the time was also never found.
