Wow! Seconds ago, the Oscar for Best Picture was handed out, and with that, history was made, as the 92nd Academy Awards came to a close in spectacular fashion! For the first time, the Academy gave a foreign language film their top honor, as Parasite took Picture in an historic upset (one that yours truly predicted). Moments before that, Bong Joon Ho pulled off a Best Director shocker, too, making it quite the evening for Parasite.
The 2020 awards season darling,, made Oscars history on Sunday, with major wins and surprising upsets for director Bong Joon-ho's dark comedy-thriller — which ultimately won four of its six nominations.

Hollywood's biggest night finished with a bang, with Bong Joon Ho's South Korean film Parasite winning the biggest prize in an upset. Sam Mendes' 1917 was the perceived Best Picture frontrunner coming into the 92nd Academy Awards, but Parasite cleaned house all night long, winning Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, Best International Feature, and making history as the first non-English language Best Picture winner ever.

Bong Joon Ho's South Korean film Parasite took home the last statue of the evening at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, becoming the first film not in English to win Best Picture. The victory capped off a night where Sam Mendes' technically dazzling war epic 1917 had a very strong chance of winning the grand prize, and many expected it would.

Hildur Guðnadóttir has won the 2020 Oscar for Best Original Score. The Icelandic composer took home the trophy for her work Joker, which previously netted her the Golden Globe for Best Original Score. She won the Academy Award over John Williams (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Alexandre Desplat (Little Women), Randy Newman (Marriage Story), and Thomas Newman (1917).
