'Parasite' Makes Oscars History With 4 Major Wins, Including Best Picture

While the world appreciated the Academy for recognising talent beyond boundaries and language barriers when they presented Parasite with Best Picture award at Oscars 2020, US President Donald Trump did not think it was a good idea. While delivering a speech at a rally on January 20, Trump mocked Oscars for the South Korean film’s historic win, Variety reported.

“Parasite” made history at the 92nd Oscars by becoming the first non-English language film to win Hollywood’s biggest prize: best picture.

It was a moment of pride for the South Korean film industry after Parasite bagged the highest number of awards at the 92nd Academy Awards over the weekend. The Korean drama film not only won Best International Film but also bagged the Oscar for Best Directing and Best Picture. Soon enough, the internet was flooded with congratulatory messages addressing director Bong Joon Ho and the team of Parasite. BTS joined social media users to congratulate Parasite for their historic win.

Parasite on Sunday was named best picture at the 2020 Oscars, picking up its fourthwin of the night. It is the first best picture win for indie distributor Neon, which was founded in 2017 by Tom Quinn.The film also received honors Sunday night for best director, best foreign film, and best screenplay.The category was introduced by Jane Fonda, who said, "Here are the films that made the greatest impact this year" as she presented the nominated films.

The Oscars 2020 made a whole lot of noise in India on Monday morning as the best in the entertainment business were awarded. From Hollywood's A-listers to filmmakers and talent from all over, the Oscars this year did not disappoint despite majorly snubbing women directors.

Wow! Seconds ago, the Oscar for Best Picture was handed out, and with that, history was made, as the 92nd Academy Awards came to a close in spectacular fashion! For the first time, the Academy gave a foreign language film their top honor, as Parasite took Picture in an historic upset (one that yours truly predicted). Moments before that, Bong Joon Ho pulled off a Best Director shocker, too, making it quite the evening for Parasite.
