Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded to a social media joke made by Rio Ferdinand.
The Manchester United hero has often shared his admiration for the 23-year-old, and sat down with him and Andy Robertson to discuss their partnership for a TV interview in October 2020. And it seems the relationship between Ferdinand and Alexander-Arnold is still friendly despite the United-Liverpool rivalry, judging by their latest interaction.
On Wednesday, the BT pundit shared an old photo of himself and Wayne Rooney in United training during the late 2000s. In the Instagram post, he is seen with a hairstyle similar to that currently donned by Alexander-Arnold.

He captioned the picture: ‘Trent before Trent’, and tagged the man himself. This prompted the Liverpool hero to respond with a set of laughing and fire emojis.
Former Premier League striker Bobby Zamora joined in on the act, delivering his own joke. He wrote: “It was just as bad back then” alongside a face-palm emoji.
