The hearing was told he had been admitted to the Priory 'after having suicidal thoughts.' He was there for 'two to three weeks' and was released just days before his death, Police Coroner's Officer Kathy Skelton told the court.
"He left the family home on September 27, at 11am. His son reported him missing at 1:15pm and a search was commenced" Ms Skelton continued.
She said his body was discovered by the friend later that day. "There are no suspicious circumstances" Ms Skelton added. His cause of death was given as hanging.
"On the basis of that evidence, I am satisfied an inquest is required by law and I formally open and adjourn the inquest," Area Coroner Catherine McKenna said.
She asked for a report from Mr Sulzbacher's GP, and reports from the Priory 'detailing his admission, and the risk assessment.'
She also asked for details of the 'care plan following his admission' and 'confirmation of whether they have undertaken any root cause analysis or any internal investigation.'
