A tot battling a brain tumour is set to have her ovaries frozen at the age of just 17 months in the hope she can have children of her own one day.
Tallulah Cox could be left infertile following an operation as part of her cancer treatment at The Christie next month. The toddler will be the youngest in the UK to have the procedure, which comes just two months after being diagnosed with an incredibly rare tumour.
Following a whirlwind of doctors’ appointments, diagnoses and an op to remove the tumour itself, Tallulah now needs an aggressive form of chemotherapy, which risks damaging her ovaries. Doctors are set to freeze sections from one ovary so she has the potential to start a family in her later years.

Her mum Zoe, 36, and technician dad Richard, 35, have been shaken by her plight – which began with what appeared to be a stomach bug. “We were so shocked when we were told she had a tumour,” Zoe said.
“Saving her is the first thing on our minds, but we are incredibly grateful that they are also thinking about her fertility and preserving her ovary. To have the opportunity to still have children in her future is amazing. At 17 months old, she isn’t thinking about being a mum, but she will one day. I’ve always wanted to be a mum and I want her to have that opportunity too.”
Tallulah fell mysteriously ill following a bout of chicken pox. She was being sick after drinking and Zoe took her to the GP, who thought she had gastroenteritis, The Mirror reports.

Tony Dow, the American child actor who went on to direct 24 episodes of the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses, has died aged 77. Although well known as Wally Cleaver on the US sitcom Leave It to Beaver in his younger days, he came to Britain and directed some of the best loved shows of Only Fools, including Yuppy Love, containing the bar-flap incident voted the country's favourite comedy moment. His death was confirmed by Frank Bilotta, who represented Dow in his work as a sculptor, in an email to the Associated Press.
