Amy Walsh and Toby Alexander-Smith welcomed their first child in December, and the stars had an unusual way of meeting their midwife. Little baby Bonnie Mae Smith arrived safely on the 27th December, and the stars tell us that they actually met their midwife through Toby's work on EastEnders. Emmerdale star Amy, 34, told OK!: "Coincidentally, Toby was filming lots of labour stuff in EastEnders and got speaking to a midwife they had on set there..." EastEnders star Toby continued: "Tamsyn was overseeing that the actors were doing the right thing, so it would be as real as possible.

I took her number and we ended up having some private antenatal classes with her." The stars explained that they later decided to have Tamsyn there during Amy's labour. Toby added: "She said 'If you’re happy to have me, I’d love to be part of your labour journey.' So we said, 'Absolutely.' The minute we met Tamsyn, we trusted her." Amy continued: "She was an angel. To have someone familiar at that hospital was great. She was like a friend on call all the time." Amy's labour took more than 12 hours, so sadly Tamsyn had finished her shift by the time little Bonnie Mae arrived, but the stars said she was a vital part of their pregnancy journey.
The couple opened up about the birth of their first child together in an exclusive shoot with OK!. Amy and Toby are over the moon to be parents, with Toby saying: "It’s exceeded every expectation imaginable, it’s just amazing and really special. We’re totally smitten."
