Tinder Swindler Simon Leviev’s new girlfriend Kate Konlin has defended her beau and branded him her "dream partner". Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler has been a hit on the streaming service, and explores the incredible story of three women who say Simon — real name Shimon Hayut, 31 — defrauded them for thousands of dollars. In the wake of its release, Shimon has pleaded his innocence despite the almost-two hour documentary showing all the evidence against him.
Now his girlfriend Kate, 23, has also backed him, while revealing that her partner still splashes huge amounts of cash. Speaking to Fashion Forward, Kate insisted that Shimon told her about his criminal background when they first met. In 2011, Shimon was arrested and charged with theft, forgery and fraud for cashing stolen check.
She said: "He told me he was sitting in jail, about the investigation that was in Norway and all the accusations that were against him. He did not hide anything from me, it was important to him that I know everything about him from the beginning.” She added that Shimon even brought documents along with him which apparently proved that he’d done nothing wrong.The Israeli model also addressed his victims’ testimonies against him, and described them as “absurd”. It's believed Simon received as much as $10 million (£7.4 million) from several different victims, including Cecile Fjellhøy and Pernilla Sjöholm who feature in the documentary and loaned Shimon thousands of dollars after being promised that they'd get it back.
