‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ allows ‘Modern Warfare 2’ cosmetic content to carry over

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will let Modern Warfare 2 players transfer their cosmetic content over to the new game as part of Activision‘s “carry forward” approach. The majority of “weapons and cosmetic content, including Bundles, Operators, and other rewards and unlocks from the game” will be accessible in Modern Warfare 3 even if the player unlocked these items in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Call Of Duty: Warzone.Naturally, there is no “carry back” from Modern Warfare 3 to Modern Warfare 2, however, Activision hopes that players will be happy with the way that “carry forward” gets them into the game as soon as possible.“Expect your available arsenal to combine weapons from both Modern Warfare titles, giving you a massive repository of armaments ready to use on day one!” it said on its official website. Two caveats are that “a small amount of content may be unavailable if gameplay offerings are different” in the next game, and war tracks will not transfer over. “For example, if MW3 doesn’t have the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle, or a specific piece of Tactical or Lethal Equipment in any game modes, any Skins you’ve unlocked for these items in MW2 won’t be in MW3,” explained Activision. The most recent trailer for Modern Warfare 3 revealed Makarov, the notorious villain from the original version of the game, as well as the “No Russian” mission.“No Russian” was subjected to intense criticism due to the fact that the player is forced to participate in a terrorist attack that kills a huge number of civilians in an airport.Modern Warfare 2‘s post-credits scene showed passengers putting together 3D-printed pistols with one of them confirming their readiness to someone named “M”.

Harriet Walter’s Rare Back-to-Back Double Nomination Highlights This Year’s Guest Emmy Races

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Granted, it doesn’t hurt that she’s part of TV’s two biggest shows — and now, the Emmy front-runners (again!) for drama and comedy. Normally I would reach out to talk with Walter about her unique place at last year and this year’s ceremonies (Which table does she sit at? Does being a double nominee make it doubly stressful?). But due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Walter is unavailable to speak.

Inside This Year’s Quiet, but Still Mighty, San Diego Comic-Con: Comic Book Sales Spike, Epic Activation Lines, Groundbreaking Panels

Comic-Con, thousands of fans, packed inside a cavernous ballroom, roared to life as the cast for one of the biggest shows to appear at this year’s annual fan convention stepped onto the stage. It was, in fact, one of the only times a cast of actors appeared at SDCC this year. And it wasn’t for a superhero movie or TV show or any massive franchise backed by a major studio. Instead, it was for “Critical Role,” the popular, long-running webseries that started as a group of voice actors getting together to play Dungeons & Dragons. “A question for the audience: anyone who’s doing cosplay, will you please stand up so we can see it?” asked star Liam O’Brien from the stage. Half the crowd — many of whom were dressed as characters from the show — leapt to their feet.

New calls to scrap green levies adding £170 to energy bills this year

A new online petition is calling on the UK Government to “permanently scrap green levies on all energy bills” which could see the average household pay an extra £170 from this month, despite the implementation of Ofgem's lower price cap on July 1. Petition creator Sophie Corcoran argues that the levies are “unnecessary” and “expensive” during the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Telemundo’s KVEA Sweeps All Three Newscast Categories at This Year’s L.A. Area Emmys

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large KVEA is clearly doing something right. The Telemundo-owned Los Angeles station, part of a duopoly with sister NBC outlet KNBC, swept this year’s key newscast categories at the 75th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. The Spanish language station dominated the evening, winning the Emmys for evening (7 p.m. to 12 a.m.), daytime (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and morning (4 a.m. to 11 a.m.) newscasts. KVEA had won the daytime newscast Emmy last year as well (while KTLA won evening, and KNBC won morning, in 2022). Overall, KVEA earned eight L.A. Area Emmy awards this year, tied with local public broadcaster KCET. (That was also up from KCET’s haul of six last year.) Given the tie with KVEA, that still preserves KCET’s streak of this being the seventh year in a row that KCET won the most.
