Based on the story of real-life Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco, the six-parter stars Sofia as the “godmother of cocaine” as she flees her home country with her sons to begin a cartel operation in 1970s Miami, Florida. While Sofia admits she’d never heard of Griselda Blanco – who was assassinated in 2012 aged 69 – before moving to the States in the late 90s, the queenpin’s story hit close to home.
