Holly Willoughby has revealed how she told her kids about the Queen's death - and their heartwarming response. The This Morning star appeared on her ITV mid-morning show today alongside her co-host Phillip Schofield for a very special episode to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Holly told how she and her kids headed down to Buckingham Palace at the weekend to pay tribute to the late monarch, and how they had penned letters to cope with their grief.
Her and Phil explained how emotional they were on hearing the news and how Holly felt she needed to take them down to Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to the monarch and remember her. Holly has Harry, 13, Belle, 11, and Chester, seven. Speaking about his own feelings, Phil said: "For us, I phoned my mum up and we were consoling each other.
And over the weekend, it's been very peculiar. Every so often - the waves crash over you and you think what has happened to us. "Holly then went on to share how she felt about the Queen's passing - and how she told her kids what happened.
"They wrote letters, and I think that's a nice way to get out their feelings and grief. For me, explaining it to Chester somewhat, from being a little girl, this is what she was destined to do. All her dreams had to be put on the back burner," she shared.
"Chester, he loves football, but that wouldn't be something that he could go and do. I found giving him that level of understanding, it was extraordinary to be there. The last time I was there was for the Jubilee.
