Apple TV+ is rolling out new seasons of four of the streamer’s popular series before the end of the year.“The Mosquito Coast” Season 2 will begin rolling out on Nov. 4 with the first episode. New episodes will premiere weekly through Jan.

K.J. Yossman The Argonon Group is moving into podcasting with its first audio series, Variety can exclusively confirm. Argonon label Like A Shot Entertainment is set to launch 10-part series “Forbidden History” based on the international TV brand. The label has also undergone a management restructure with Debbie Akinbola (pictured) appointed to head of production. Reporting to managing director Henry Scott, she will be responsible for the production process, including post-production. “Forbidden History,” which is set to launch Oct. 12 across all major audio platforms, is hosted by Janine Harouni. It will explore “the past’s darkest corners by examining true crime stories through history, shedding light on the lives of intriguing individuals with the aim to uncover the truth buried deep in some of history’s most controversial legacies,” reads the logline.

TrustNordisk has picked up international sales rights to Ole Bornedal’s psychological thriller sequel Nightwatch — Demons Are Forever, starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Zentropa Entertainments today announced that production has begun on Nikolaj Arcel’s new epic historical drama The Bastard, starring Mads Mikkelsen.

But, Argentine director Manuel Abramovich – who won the 2019 Silver Bear at Berlin with his short film “Blue Boy” – told Variety, “Pornomelancolía is not a film about pornography, it is a film about how we face the gaze of others.” “Pornomelancolía” was formed as part of 2018’s Ikusmira Berriak, a residency program in San Sebastian which is one of Spain’s foremost development labs. The film is lead produced by Gema Films in Argentina, with Brazil’s Desvia Filmes, Bordeaux-based Dublin Films and Mexico’s Marthfilms. Luxbox handles international sales; Filmin will handle distribution in Spain.

Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae is set to star in Disney+’s upcoming Star Wars series.According to Deadline, Lee is set to star as the male lead in Disney+’s The Acolyte. The series, which promises to depict the dark side of the Force’s rise to power during the final days of the film franchise’s High Republic era, marks the South Korean actor’s first leading role in a television series since starring in Squid Game.As of writing, specifics about Lee’s role in the series have yet to be released.

Netflix has a number of high-profile movies coming to the Toronto  Film Festival, just as it did at Venice and Telluride, but a less heralded title with no instantly recognizable star names was chosen to open the fest tonight, and The Swimmers may turn out to be a surprise winner for the streamer when it debuts this fall. It certainly reverses the curse of some of TIFF’s less successful opening-nighters.

India’s Kajol To Star Disney+ Hotstar Remake Of ‘The Good Wife’

Kajol, one of India’s best-loved actors, stars in Disney+ Hotstar series “The Good Wife – Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka,” an adaptation of the CBS series of the same name. Disney unveiled a first look image for the show that is now in production. With the Indian title translating as ‘The Good Wife – Love, Law, Deception,’ Kajol plays a housewife who is forced to return to work as a lawyer after her husband’s public scandal puts him behind bars. The series is directed by Suparn Verma (Amazon Studios series “The Family Man”) and produced by Mumbai-based Banijay Asia. Kajol has credits that include romance “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” melodrama “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…,” romantic thriller “Fanaa,” drama “My Name Is Khan,” and hit the action comedy “Dilwale,” in 2015. She hails from the Mukherjee family which is studded with actors, directors and producers, and has been married to Ajay Devgn for more than twenty years.

"Dancing with the Stars" pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy is sharing what it was like being in Ukraine when the war broke out and what he's doing to help his homeland.  Chmerkovskiy, who was born in Ukraine but is also a U.S. citizen, was in Ukraine earlier this year when Russia launched its invasion.The dancer was working as a judge on the Ukrainian version of "Dancing with the Stars" at the time.  When the war first broke out in February, Chmerkovskiy documented his experience of being in Kyiv.

Production on the film is underway in Las Vegas. Capstone Global is handling worldwide sales on the film, and will introduce it to buyers during the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.   Written by Luke Paradise (“Lost on a Mountain in Maine”), “Sympathy for the Devil” follows “The Driver” (Kinnaman) as he finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse after being forced to drive a mysterious man known as “The Passenger” (Cage). That sets things up for a white-knuckle ride.
