A number of Scottish families may be due a fortune in unclaimed estates from their relatives.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds in unclaimed inheritance could be waiting for some people, who may not even be aware that they are owed money. Records on unclaimedestates.scot reveal there were 34 unclaimed estates last year where the deceased was domiciled in Scotland.
When an individual passes away before making a will, they leave behind all of their possessions. This includes money, property, businesses, and vehicles.
If nobody claims the belongings, then they could be passed over to the government's accounts. Read on for a list of all 34 estates, broken down by council area.
If a person dies without leaving a will, the following people are entitled to claim the estate:
