Ride announce new reissues in celebration of their 30th anniversary

Ride have announced new reissues of their early albums and EPs to mark their 30th anniversary as a band.The Oxford group are set to re-release their seminal 1990 debut ‘Nowhere’ and its follow-up ‘Going Blank Again’ (1992) on November 4 via Wichita Recordings.Per a press release, the former will be pressed on on blue vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and embossed artwork; the latter, meanwhile, is available on double orange vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.Additionally, fans will be able to get their hands on Ride’s first four EPs – ‘Ride’, ‘Play’, ‘Fall’, and ‘Today Forever’ – on a new double white vinyl compilation called ‘4 EPs’. This comes with a 16-page booklet featuring archive photos and an essay by Sonic Cathedral’s Nathaniel Cramp.All the original audio has been reworked and refined, with the upcoming reissues also available on CD and streaming services.

Alt-J announce London show to mark debut album’s 10th anniversary

Alt J have today (April 14) unveiled details of a one-off anniversary show at Brixton Academy.The gig will be a special one-off live performance of their 2012 debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave’, which went on to win the Mercury Prize.The band will be playing the album in full along with some “bonus tracks” at London’s O2 Brixton Academy on May 17. Tickets are on sale here next Friday (April 22) at 10am.The show is to take place during the band’s run at O2 Brixton Academy in support of their fourth and most recent album, ‘The Dream’.Speaking about the special gig, the band said: “To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the album that changed our lives, we are thrilled to announce an extra show at Brixton Academy where we will play An Awesome Wave in full.“We know how much this record means to our fans and can’t wait to turn back the clock to 2012 with them in London’s best venue.” Speaking to NME recently, frontman Joe Newman said that Alt-J have “never stopped celebrating our debut album”.“We’ve never stopped playing those songs live,” he added about the continued inclusion of tracks from ‘An Awesome Wave’ in their setlist.

HIM’s Ville Valo has announced that he’ll be hitting the road next year for a UK and European tour – buy tickets here.The upcoming dates – which he will headline under his VV moniker – mark the first serious run of touring for the Finnish singer-songwriter since the disbanding of HIM back in late 2017.Kicking off at Proxima in Warsaw, Poland on February 14, he will take in mainland European shows in Germany, Spain, Italy, Luxemburg, Switzerland, among others.
