Manchester Metropolitan University has enjoyed long and award-winning reputation of delivering success to those who study there; with 91 per cent of graduates employed or in further education six months after graduation and 85 per cent of research impact being rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, the statistics speak for themselves.
One of the jewels in the crown for the university is their triple-accredited business school, which has not only seen them rated as one of the top ten institutions for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, the amazing opportunities provided by the school has allowed local businesses to tap into the knowledge, transforming them on a global scale.
Like many business owners, the Covid-19 pandemic forced Raessa Lea to take the difficult call to close the doors of Towing Solutions Limited when the pandemic hit. While working for the family enterprise was never part of her original plan, when personal circumstances saw her return to her hometown and take up the mantle of director, Raessa threw herself wholeheartedly into growing the company and carrying on the family legacy.
She said: “I’m the fifth generation working in towing. My family first manufactured parts for horse and carts."
Towing Solutions offers training in trailer servicing, tow-bar fitting and towing, and like many others in the industry, found that the pandemic hit them particularly hard, especially when it came to adjusting to the ‘new normal’ of trying to operate on a virtual stage.
“You can’t teach someone how to tow a trailer by showing them a video. Doing it in person is completely different,” Raessa added.
