Anna Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey, is opening up about the Netflix series Inventing Anna and what she’s learned about herself since the release of the popular new show.
The show is based on Jessica Pressler‘s New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People,” which details the exploits of a young Russian woman, played by Julia Garner, who convinced New Yorkers that she was a German heiress.
Anna is the real woman that the show is based on and she is currently held in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody pending deportation.

Anna talked about putting her past behind her and said, “I personally moved on a very long time ago, and I’m absolutely not in the same place. But I’m also being affected by the way the world sees me and by what people think of me. Because I exist in relation to everybody else and to the world, I don’t just exist on my own.”
