While Queen Elizabeth II was lying in state at the Palace of Westminster last week, the new Prince and Princess of Wales greeted mourners at Sandringham – a place that held a special place in the Queen’s heart. Although the pair have undoubtedly had an emotional week, they smiled and looked moved as they admired flower tributes and gifts left by well-wishers to honour the late monarch. Queen Elizabeth II's coffin has begun it's final journey to Windsor Castle. The coffin had been Lying-in-State in at Westminster Hall since last Thursday, but was taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey on Monday morning, where Her Majesty's state funeral service took place.Following the funeral, the coffin traveled in procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch, and then to Windsor. Once there, the coffin was placed inside the State Hearse.

Meghan Markle was seen overcome with emotion as she joined members of the royal family at the State Funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on Friday.The Duchess of Sussex was seen wiping a tear from her eye in emotional pictures as the procession left Westminster Abbey for Wellington Arch while members of the royal family watched on.The Queen Consort, the Duchess of Sussex, the Princess of Wales and the Countess of Wessex were seen looking sombre as the King and his siblings marched off. Prince George and Princess Charlotte stood in front of their mother, with George looking directly at the coffin as it passed.

Queen Elizabeth II's funeral on Monday 19 September will take place at Westminster Abbey, and King Charles III, 73, confirmed that the day will be a national bank holiday. On the morning of the sombre day, the lying-in-State period will end and the Queen’s Coffin will be taken in procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the State Funeral Service will take place.

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. Following the death of The Queen last week, King Charles has had a lot of changes to deal with as he became the new monarch following his mother’s sad passing. Alongside his grief, the new King, supported by his devoted wife, Camilla, Queen Consort must now navigate his mother’s funeral, his impending coronation and readjust to his life as the head of state, after spending so much of his life waiting to follow in his mother’s formidable footsteps.

After the Queen's death, her son became King Charles III and his wife Camilla took on the title of Queen Consort - not Queen. Whilst they sound similar, the titles indicate a key difference.

On the afternoon of Thursday 8 September, Buckingham Palace announced the sad news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's passing. But hours before her death, the Royal Family were informed of her "hours to live" condition, with many members rushing to get to her bedside.

On September 8, Buckingham Palace announced the news that The Queen had passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.The news was announced in a statement that read: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." The royal family is set to have many changes in the days following Her Majesty’s death at the age of 96, including dividing her net worth and the homes she amassed over her long life and 70 year reign. According to Forbes magazine, the monarchy as a whole is worth £76.5 billion with the Queen worth a fraction of that figure. On her own, Her Majesty is thought to be worth a still pretty impressive £389 million, according to the New York Post.

Sarah Ferguson was spotted frantically making her way back to the UK at Venice airport just hours before the Queen sadly died at Balmoral. The ex-wife of Prince Andrew had been in Italy for the Venice International Film Festival, but when news of the Queen's ill-health broke, she embarked on a return to the UK. Just hours after Sarah was pictured at the Italian airport, the Duke of York and the Wessexes were pictured arriving at Balmoral in a car being driven by Prince William.They had all flown to Aberdeen airport together on an RAF jet.
