The Mountain Goats bandleader John Darnielle has shared a new release, surprise album ‘Songs For Pierre Chuvin’, harking back to the group’s early days.

As teased, the Mountain Goats have released a new album via Merge. This one’s called Songs for Pierre Chuvin. According to a press release, it’s the first time since 2002’s All Hail West Texas that John Darnielle has recorded an album entirely on his boombox.
