The Latin American Music Awards are back: Date and location announced

Thania Garcia Myke Towers, Anuel AA, Edén Muñoz, and Prince Royce are among the first round of confirmed performers for the 2023 Latin American Music Awards taking place on April 20 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Towers will be performing “Mi Droga,” the second track from his newly released “La Vida Es Una,” while Anuel will perform “Más Rica Que Ayer”; newlyweds Guaynaa and Lele Pons will treat audiences to a medley including “Abajito” from their upcoming album “Capitulations”; and Royce will be singing an unreleased song. Elsewhere, rising acts Bad Gyal and Muñoz will make their Latin AMAs on-stage debut. Bad Gyal will be singing her female-empowerment anthem “Chulo,” while the Mexican producer and singer-songwriter will perform his catchy hit single, “Chale.” Muñoz is also nominated in the new artist of the year category alongside Bizarrap, Blessd, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia.

The pair took home Collaborative Video of the Year for their duet “Nobody But You.”Meanwhile, Shania Twain will become the third-ever winner of the CMT Equal Play Award, which recognizes „an artist who is a visible and vocal advocate for elevating diverse and underrepresented voices in country music.“ Previous winners of the award include Jennifer Nettles and Linda Martell. The trio joins previously-announced performers Shelton, Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, co-hosts Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, and more.A Video of the Year nominee, Shelton recently spoke with ET about why he thinks the CMT Music Awards „means more“ than your typical awards show — and it boils down to the fans.»Our industry, there’s so many under-the-table political things going on, it’s always nice to win any award, but when you know for sure [that] fans took the time and they voted for you, then that means the world."«I love being able to be a part of a show like that because I just feel like they have more credibility to me,» he added.

Variety, the sabbatical is likely to take place because the Billboard Music Awards are moving to November 19, which is typically when the American Music Awards are held.Parent company Dick Clark Productions may choose to move the awards to 2024, taking up the slot in May previously held by Billboard.Variety reports that multiple sources have said neither ceremony secured a broadcast partner and Dick Clark Productions had to choose which show to support. As Penske Media Corp., the parent company of Dick Clark Productions, also owns Billboard, it has been suggested that they chose to bolster their brand by supporting the Billboard Music Awards.Ratings for the American Music Awards have also been steadily declining in recent years, with the 2022 show reaching 3.53million total viewers.

The American Music Awards might not happen this year after all.

American Music Awards will take a one year sabbatical, Variety has learned. Following news announcing that the Billboard Music Awards would be moving their date to Nov. 19, 2023, typically a Sunday held for the AMAs, it left parent company Dick Clark Productions no choice but to bump the AMAs to 2024, when it could take the May slot previously held by Billboard. Multiple sources say that neither has a broadcast partner and producer Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Penske Media Corp. (parent company of Variety and Billboard) had to make the decision of which show to throw its weight behind. Since PMC owns Billboard, insiders suggest that the thinking was to promote its own brand. Chatter among music industry professionals is that the AMAs, which launched in 1973, was becoming stale.

The announcement last week that the 2023 Billboard Music Awards will be held on Sunday, November 19, raised a few eyebrows because that had been the date earmarked for the 2023 American Music Awards. Both music award shows are produced by dick clark productions.

Following Naomi's death last year, McBryde joined The Judds and they toured together as part of Wynonna's The Judds: The Final Tour, which continued as planned as a tribute to Naomi.Wynonna and McBryde recently kicked off the 2023 leg of the tour, which will also include Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Tanya Tucker for select dates. Naomi and Wynonna brought down the house at last year's CMT Awards with an unforgettable performance, which also marked their triumphant TV return after more than 20 years.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards will be held on Sunday, November 19. That marks a return to late fall for the awards show, produced by Dick Clark Productions, which took place in early December during its original 1990-2006 incarnation that was carried by Fox. Billboard Music Awards moved to May when it was revived in 2011, airing on ABC for seven years and, most recently, on NBC for the past six.

Top Argentine producer Pablo Bossi’s Madrid-based company Gloriamundi is handling “I Woke Up with a Dream” rights outside Latin America.

Bad Bunny is coming in hot at this year's Latin American Music Awards!
