‘The Last of Us’ Season 1 Finale Scores 8.2 Million Viewers, Reaching Series High Despite Oscars Competition

There’s cause to celebrate for HBO, as 2.3 million marks a 33% improvement from the previous series high, which came when the Season 3 finale achieved 1.7 million viewers in December 2021. And compared to the premiere episode of Season 3, Season 4 returned with 62% more viewers.

Spring has sprung, which means the 2022-23 TV season is in its homestretch. Now ABC has set the season-finale dates for its series — including Ellen Pompeo’s return to Grey’s Anatomy — along with the final episodes of long-running comedy The Goldbergs and drama A Million Little Things. The Oscars, which repped the return of host Jimmy Kimmel for the first time since 2018, was up 12% from last year’s ratings. And according to those time-zone-adjusted fast-national numbers from Nielsen, it bested the previous year’s 3.8 rating by 5% in key adults 18-49, earning a 4.0 in the demo.
