A number of motorists reported hearing a loud bang as they smashed into it - before discovering their alloys or tyres have been wrecked.
There have been reports of an ambulance hitting it.
The unmarked island, on Buxton Road in Hazel Grove, claimed a fair few victims on Sunday evening (January 19).
