No surprise here. ABC has renewed hit medical drama The Good Doctor for a seventh season.
The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, remains a solid anchor of ABC’s Monday lineup. The Good Doctor ranks as the #1 entertainment series in Monday’s 10 pm hour this season in Adults 18-49, tying NBC’s Quantum Leap.
The April 10 episode shot up by 40% among Adults 18-49 over the prior week to match its highest-rated telecast this season. The drama also grew week to week by 3% in Total Viewers to draw its biggest audience since January 23. The April 10 episode grew to 7.9 million Total Viewers after seven days of viewing across linear and digital platforms, marking its most-watched multiplatform telecast since its October 2022 season premiere.
After 35 days of viewing on linear and digital platforms, The Good Doctor draws more than 9 million Total Viewers this season (9.1 million). Additionally the series jumps nearly 6 times over its initial Live+Same Day rating among Adults 18-49 this season, up 478% after 35 days of multiplatform viewing.
Conversations are ongoing over the proposed Good Doctor spinoff, The Good Lawyer, and it’s looking promising for a pickup, we hear. The spinoff, led by Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman, would mark Desperate Housewives‘ alumna Huffman’s return to TV.
On next week’s episode,“A Beautiful Day,” Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) and Dr. Shaun Murphy’s (Freddie Highmore) relationship may be irreparably damaged following a tense moment during a surgery. While Dr. Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) struggles during her parental leave, Dr. Alex Park (Will Yun Lee) may just be the one she needs the most.

William Earl One of Apple TV+’s biggest shows has been renewed early. “The Morning Show,” the newsroom drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, has received an early renewal for Season 4 on the streamer. Meanwhile, Season 3 is set to debut this fall. Witherspoon and Aniston are executive producers, with Mimi Leder directing and executive producing, and Charlotte Stoudt acting as showrunner and executive producer for Season 3. “The Morning Show” is produced by the Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films. Season 3 will introduce new cast members Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie, as well as the return of stars such as Julianna Margulies, Tig Notaro, Stephen Fry and Natalie Morales.
The Good Doctor will be down one physician when it returns for the 2022-2023 season on ABC.

The second season will be comprised of four hourlong episodes, each of which will highlight new dishes, destinations and attractions.

The network shared the announcement on Thursday. “Station 19” follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters as they put their lives and hearts on the line. The series aims to take viewers inside the tough, tight-knit and sometimes heartbreaking world of the city’s first responders. In addition to the renewal news, Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have also been appointed as showrunners and executive producers for the upcoming season. As Variety previously reported, former showrunner Krista Vernoff announced her departure from both “Grey’s Anatomy” (which is currently in its 19th Season) and “Station 19” in January.
Station 19 is set to hit its 100th episode in the 2023/24 season after ABC renewed the first-responders drama series for a seventh season.

The news emerged the same day that Netflix announced a 1.75 million jump in subscriptions worldwide. The action thriller that stars Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati trended on the No.1 spot as the most watched series in India for three consecutive weeks after launch last month and continues to be in the top 10 series in India for the fifth week in a row. It trended in Netflix’s global top 10 for non-English TV for two weeks after it launched on March 10.
ABC has renewed drama series Will Trent, starring Ramón Rodríguez, for a second season. This marks the first ABC freshman show to get a renewal decision this season; it comes ahead of Will Trent‘s Season 1 finale on May 2.
BreAnna Bell ABC has ordered a second season of its latest procedural hit “Will Trent.” Based on Karin Slaughter’s novels of the same name, the series follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). After being abandoned at birth and growing up in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system, Trent is determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was. Will Trent has the highest clearance rate in the GBI. The series stars Rodríguez as Will Trent, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner.

BreAnna Bell ABC’s “The Rookie” will be returning for a sixth season where it’s expected to hit its 100th episode milestone, the network announced on Monday. The procedural follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the oldest rookie in the LAPD, who uses his life experience, determination and sense of humor to keep up with rookies 20 years his junior. Nearing the end of his training, Nolan now faces his biggest challenge as a police officer when he must come to terms with the choices he has made in pursuit of the truth. Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, and Jenna Dewan join Fillion among the cast. In the next episode, which airs April 18, Officer Tim Bradford’s (Winter) ex-wife, Isabel, returns and asks the team to help her save someone from her undercover past. Her return also creates additional pressure in Lucy (O’Neil) and Tim’s relationship as they assist her in the search. “The Rookie” Season 5 finale will arrive on Tuesday, May 2.
As expected, ABC has renewed The Rookie for its sixth season.
