The medical drama, which debuted in 2017, stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon who has savant syndrome and works in the surgical unit at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Alongside Highmore, the “Good Doctor” cast includes Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo, Bria Samoné Henderson as Dr. Jordan Allen and Noah Galvin as Dr. Asher Wolke.
During the current season, ABC aired a backdoor pilot for spinoff “The Good Lawyer,” starring Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman. No decision has been made regarding that potential series.
“The Good Doctor” is tied with NBC’s “Quantum Leap” as the top-rated entertainment series (programs excluding sports and news) in the 10 p.m. Monday slot this season among adults in the 18-49 demographic. The show is averaging a 0.6 rating and 6 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s “most current” data stream, which includes a week’s worth of viewing where available. The sixth season finale of the “The Good Doctor” is set for May 1. “The Good Doctor” is executive produced and co-showrun by David Shore and Liz Friedman. Additional executive producers include Daniel Dae Kim, Erin Gunn, Thomas L. Moran, David Hoselton, Peter Blake, Jessica Grasl, Garrett Lerner, Mike Listo, Highmore, Shawn Williamson, David Kim and Sebastian Lee. However, the show will be moving to ABC for its seventh season, Variety has confirmed. In addition, the sister series “9-1-1: Lone Star” has been renewed for Season 5 at Fox. “It has been an honor to be the founding network of ‘9-1-1’ and we are grateful to Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, together with Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Ryan Guzman and the rest of the cast and crew, and 20th Television for delivering such an impactful series to Fox,” the network said in a statement. “We wish them well after ‘9-1-1’s’ final Fox season concludes.”

The announcement was made ahead of Amazon’s NewFront presentation in New York on May 1. The first season of “Bosch: Legacy” debuted on Freevee in May 2022, with Season 2 set to air this fall. Like its predecessor, the Prime Video series “Bosch,” the Freevee series is based on the Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly. “The story of Harry Bosch has evolved over the years, and his journey is far from over,” said LaurenAnderson, head of AVOD Originals, unscripted, and targeted programming at Amazon Studios. “Thisrenewal of ‘Bosch: Legacy’ is a testament to the enduring power of the world Michael Connelly built. Season 3, which is directed by Mimi Leder and led by showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, features several new additions to the sprawling ensemble cast, including Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie as well as Tig Notaro, Stephen Fry and Natalie Morales in recurring roles. Witherspoon and Aniston are executive producers, with Mimi Leder directing and executive producing, and Charlotte Stoudt acting as showrunner and executive producer for Season 3. “The Morning Show” is produced by the Media Res, Hello Sunshine and Echo Films. BreAnna Bell ABC has renewed its drama “Station 19” for a seventh season, during which, the show is expected to reach its 100th episode milestone. The network shared the announcement on Thursday. “Station 19” follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters as they put their lives and hearts on the line. The series aims to take viewers inside the tough, tight-knit and sometimes heartbreaking world of the city’s first responders. In addition to the renewal news, Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have also been appointed as showrunners and executive producers for the upcoming season. As Variety previously reported, former showrunner Krista Vernoff announced her departure from both “Grey’s Anatomy” (which is currently in its 19th Season) and “Station 19” in January.
