A Stirling motorist caught driving while under the influence of the cannabis derivative THC has been banned from the road.
Nineteen-year-old Emma Allan, of Graystale Road, had tested positive for the drug after a one-car accident on Stirling’s Gateside Road near Berryhill Farm on September 28 last year.
She had admitted a charge contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988 and the Drug Driving (specified limits) (Scotland) regulations 2019.
Allan had been driving while the proportion of Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol in her blood was 3.1mg per litre, the limit being 2mg per litre.
At Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday fiscal depute Lindsey Brooks told Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon there had been a one-vehicle road traffic accident at 9.50pm on Graystale Road on September 28.
The matter had been reported to police who had attended.
Ms Brooks added: “It appears that the vehicle lost control at a right hand bend and collided with a wall.”
She added that the fire brigade were also at the scene.
As well as the driver there were two passengers, Ms Brooks said, and police officers were aware of a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.
In response to police procedure Allan identified herself as the driver, giving her name.
A roadside drug test gave a positive reading.
Allan was first taken to hospital for a check-up before being taken to Falkirk Police Office where procedure was carried out and the reading in the charge established. She made no reply to caution and charge.
Allan, who did not have a solicitor, was questioned by Sheriff O’Hanlon. She told him that she was in work, lived with family, and earned in the region of £1200 per month.
