A Texas woman was charged with murder Monday after authorities alleged she admitted to fatally stabbing her 5-year-old daughter in the neck at a park and wrapping her in bags. Melissa White Towne, 37, was booked in the Harris County Jail after she drove to a hospital emergency room Sunday and told staff she had killed her daughter, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. When a nurse opened the car door, she reportedly found Towne's daughter partially wrapped in plastic and mesh bags.

A Phoenix police officer was arrested on suspicion of trying to solicit a prostitute early Sunday morning, the department said. Michael Martinez, 30, was booked into jail on Oct. 16.

Jerry Toney, 25, was apprehended by officers as he was getting into a black Dodge pickup at a Walmart while sporting a hatchet and baton in his pants, which he reportedly said he needed for protection, according to local KSLA.

Border officers in Texas found more than $402,000 worth of liquid methamphetamine held in condoms that were hidden inside pumpkins during a vehicle inspection, authorities said.  The seizure was discovered Tuesday at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry and was among Halloween decorations inside a vehicle, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.  Border officers in Texas said they seized discovered 44 pounds of liquid methamphetamine in condoms hidden inside pumpkins.

Texas police have taken a couple's son into custody as a person of interest in his parents' double murder. Johnson County Deputies on Oct. 5 conducted a welfare check on Michael Scarlett, 66, and Kay Scarlett, 68, after receiving a phone call from a concerned family member who was unable to get in touch with the couple, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO).

An Indiana man accused of smuggling three migrants crashed his car during a high-speed chase in Uvalde County recently, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Richard Diaz, 21, allegedly told police that he was being paid $3,000 per person to smuggle the migrants from the border community of Eagle Pass to San Antonio.  He was charged with two counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury, Texas DPS spokesman Christopher Olivarez told Fox News Digital.  The driver sped off during an apparent traffic stop in Uvalde County, Texas.  (Texas Department of Public Safety) Dashcam footage shows the driver accelerate away from an apparent traffic stop at night. Former Alabama escapee Casey White pleaded not guilty Tuesday at his arraignment on escape and felony murder charges after his alleged accomplice in the jailbreak shot herself in the head rather than face arrest. Vicky White, a former Lauderdale County, Alabama, corrections official, walked Casey White out of jail on April 29, and the duo led investigators on an 11-day manhunt spanning multiple states and involving disguises and multiple cars. The two were not related but were allegedly involved in a jailhouse romance.  Deputies in Indiana recaptured Casey White after a car chase as the alleged lovers tried to evade capture.

A Wichita police officer was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving, become the city's third officer to be apprehended within about two weeks. Police said in a release that the officer, who was off-duty, is also facing a charge of possession of a gun while intoxicated.The officer, who has been with the department for two years, has been placed on administrative leave while a criminal and internal investigation is conducted, the Wichita Eagle reported.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom's reelection campaign put up a billboard in Austin, Texas, promoting his state's abortion access for women. The billboard, placed just south of Stassney Lane in South Austin, features a woman sitting with her arms crossed over her knees looking toward a pro-abortion message that reads, "Need an abortion? California is ready to help."  The advertisement also includes California's abortion resources website and a Bible verse.  "Love your neighbor as yourself.There is no greater commitment than these," the billboard reads, quoting Mark 12:31.

A San Antonio teenager's grandmother turned him in to police after discovering he allegedly shot his sister's boyfriend while on drugs. Officials found the victim with a gunshot wound in his right thigh at around 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to FOX 29 San Antonio.The victim, who was found in his apartment, was sent to a local hospital.
