Teddy Sheringham thinks Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy should give Harry Kane respect and allow him to join Manchester United if he desires.
It's understood Erik ten Hag has made Kane his priority striker target this summer, but landing the 29-year-old's signature won't be straightforward, despite the player being out of contract next summer.
Levy has built a reputation as a tricky negotiator and Kane is expected to command a transfer fee in excess of £80million.

In addition, Tottenham do not want to sell Kane to a direct Premier League rival and that could also lead to protracted negotiations, but sources have warned that United won't get involved in a transfer saga for England's all-time top scorer.
Sheringham, who made the switch from Tottenham to United himself for trophies in 1997, was recently asked about Kane's future and he advised Levy to show respect to the player and his desire for a potential move away.
"I joined United because I felt that Tottenham were not going to allow me to compete for trophies," Sheringham told LordPing. "I didn’t think the club were going to bring in the players that would have enabled us to challenge for the biggest prizes.
"Harry has got to look at the situation at the club and ask himself the same questions that I did. If he doesn’t think that the club are going to be able to bring in players that would see them competing, then I don’t think there’s a single Tottenham fan that would begrudge him the opportunity to win trophies with another club.
