Zack Snyder is no stranger to shared cinematic universes, as he was the original man behind the DCEU series of films. At least there, the idea of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman all existing in the same universe makes sense and is part of the greater DC Universe canon.

American Cinematheque and Netflix have joined the initial slate of programming at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. From Dec. 8 to 14, classic film buffs can catch the Los Angeles premiere of brand new restorations of “Days of Heaven” and “L’amour Fou.” Also featured is a 50th anniversary screening of “Don’t Look Now” with a 35mm IB Tech print.

Zack Snyder‘s space adventure film “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” has set a one-week theatrical run ahead of its debut on Netflix. The film will be playing exclusively on 70mm from Dec. 15-21 at the following locations: Los Angeles (Egyptian Theatre), New York City (Paris Theater), Toronto (TIFF Bell Lightbox) and London (Prince Charles Cinema).

It’s ambitious and essentially doing for spies, with his company MARV, what Marvel has done for superheroes: an interconnected universe of espionage franchise, yes, all of his own.

Matthew Vaughn returns to theaters next February with “Argylle,” his latest loony spy feature. But in the build-up to his new film, the director has been candid about his career’s earlier work, particularly a film he walked away from: “X-Men: The Last Stand.” Vaughn was initially scheduled to direct the film, but he bailed on it after concerns about the budget and how fast producers wanted it (ironically, he did the same thing on Marvel’s “Thor” before Kenneth Branagh took over).
