Larry Birkhead has strong opinions about the new Netflix documentary about the late Anna Nicole Smith and mother of his 16-year-old daughter, Dannielynn. In a statement to ET, Birkhead says he declined to participate in the documentary for a number of reasons.«We declined to participate as I did not want my daughter in a overwhelmingly poorly reviewed cesspool of a project about her Mother, where some people were allowed to invent things and rewrite history,» Birkhead said. «I am looking forward to a true definitive Anna Nicole project where her truth can be heard from her own perspective and by those that truly knew her the best and not just another 'wash, rinse and repeat' Anna Nicole project.

All Points East festival.PC Hasnain Awan was found to have committed gross misconduct at Police Misconduct Hearing held on May 5, according to the Hackney Gazette.Awan allegedly worked a shift for the Met Police at the festival in London’s Victoria Park on On August 28, 2021, where he was given a wrist band to enable him to enter the site and perform his duties.The following day he was off duty but was said to have attended the festival with a friend who was not a police officer.Awan allegedly went to the festival accreditation desk and told staff that he needed a new wristband because his own had been seized as evidence after getting stained with blood.It is then believed that he gave the new wristband to his friend and entered using the wristband he had used the day before, allowing both to enter the festival without paying the £95 entrance fee.At 2pm the same day, he then allegedly tried to gain entry to a backstage area of the festival by showing his warrant card.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Magnolia Pictures and MK2 Films have acquired rights to Roaul Peck’s documentary about renowned photographer Ernest Cole. The untitled documentary chronicles the life and work of Cole, the first Black freelance photographer in South Africa, whose early work revealed to the world the shocking, brutal realities of Black life under apartheid. Magnolia will release the film in North American theaters, while MK2 will handle the rollout internationally. “Ernest Cole’s long and, at times, painful and tedious journey in America brings me back to a period of my life when my political commitment and artistic stamina were forged,” Peck said in a statement. “I profoundly feel, cherish and treasure his human eye on the facts of life and his piercing acuity over our terrible contradictions.”

Naman Ramachandran “Bad Sisters” co-creator Sharon Horgan is actively participating in the ongoing WGA strike. The Apple TV+ series won drama series at the BAFTA TV Awards in London on Sunday. During her acceptance speech Horgan thanked “all our writers” because it all begins and ends with the writers, so we’re in solidarity to our WGA brothers and sisters.” Later, speaking at the winners press conference backstage, Horgan confirmed that all her U.S. projects are on hold at the moment. “All of my U.S. projects are just like in a pile now,” Horgan said. Joe Otterson TV Reporter Adam Brody will star opposite Kristen Bell in an upcoming comedy series for Netflix, Variety has learned. The untitled series was ordered at the streamer back in March. It centers “on the unlikely relationship between the outspoken, agnostic Joanne (Bell) and unconventional rabbi Noah (Brody).” The character Noah is further described as “a charming rabbi who is stuck in his ways and used to playing things safe. He starts to stumble when he meets a brutally honest and provocative Joanne, totally upending his safe life plan.” Brody is best known for his role in the hit Fox drama series “The O.C.,” while his other TV credits include “Fleishman Is in Trouble,” “Mrs. America,” “StartUp,” and “Single Parents.” He has also appeared in films such as “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “Sleeping with Other People,” and “Promising Young Woman.”

Dennis Harvey Film Critic Artificial Intelligence has been increasingly in the news of late, with observers worried that it will soon become difficult for teachers to tell if students actually completed a project themselves (or a program did it for them), for anyone to recognize whether a supposed breaking evidential video is in fact a deepfake, and so forth. “The Artifice Girl,” however, frames the problems raised by ever-growing technological sophistication in a familiar narrative framework: that of the machine intelligence that begins to surpass its human “masters.”  Unlike portrayals from “2001” to “Ex Machina” and beyond, however, Franklin Ritch’s debut feature does not treat that dynamic in thriller terms, as a hostile takeover. Instead, this smaller-scaled speculative fiction is more concerned with ethics, as pondered in a series of dialogue sequences that aren’t static but might also have worked on stage, and require nothing in the way of FX. The results may not be what fantasy fans in need of action and spectacle are looking for. But Ritch’s film, which won the Best International Feature Audience Award at Fantasia last year, is engaging food for thought for viewers willing to let ideas rather than visuals fire up their futuristic imagination. XYZ Films is releasing it April 27 to limited U.S. theaters, as well as on-demand and digital platforms.
