A victim of brain butcher Sam Eljamel has demanded the surgeon is prosecuted or his victims will die without seeing justice done. Pat Kelly, 64, longs for the neurosurgeon to be jailed for what he has done.
And he has called on the Scottish Government to speed up a public inquiry into the surgeon – who left an estimated 172 patients damaged through botched operations.
Pat, from Dundee, was left in constant pain and in poor health after an operation by Eljamel. And now he fears he will not survive to see the conclusion of a public inquiry into the scandal.
Former radio DJ Pat said: "I would love to see him jailed before I die. I would love to see this clown behind bars because it is horrific what he has done to so many people over the years.
"If the British government managed to get an extradition treaty then there might be a chance. But then there is the will of the Scottish Government as well and I am not convinced on that score."
Pat has been told the botched operation by Eljamel could take years off his life. He said: "I don’t know how long I have got. Every day my condition is worse, my health is deteriorating."
Pat had problems dating back to 1992 when he suddenly was unable to feel his legs. In pain and suffering violent leg shakes, in 2005, he was finally diagnosed with thoracic disc herniation – a serious and rare spinal condition.
Eljamel agreed to operate to shave or remove discs from his spine but the operation was a disaster. Pat said: "The operation involves going in by the side, then they have got to collapse your lung and remove ribs to get right through past the heart.
"You are basically wide open. It is a brutal operation. It needs a very skilled neuro-surgeon to do that. I thought at the time I was blessed
