Suella Braverman was no stranger to controversy in her time as home secretary, which came to an end after she was sacked in a Cabinet reshuffle today (Monday November 13).
Opponents of Ms Braverman consistently accused her of employing far-right rhetoric and lacking compassion in her comments about asylum seekers, immigrants and multiculturalism. She had previously also been effectively sacked by Liz Truss over security concerns, before being brought back into government a week later by Rishi Sunak.
Pressure was mounting on Rishi Sunak after Ms Braverman was accused of stoking tensions ahead of Armistice Day protests, with calls for the Prime Minister to sack her. A No 10 source said Mr Sunak 'asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted'.

The Conservatives said Mr Sunak is carrying out a wider reshuffle which 'strengthens his team in Government to deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future'.
Ms Braverman was under increased pressure after writing an unauthorised article in the Times, published on Thursday. She criticised what she called 'pro-Palestinian mobs' and slammed the Met Police for a 'double standard' over their handling of protests.
