There is no shortage of Grateful Dead merch available online, but the band is hoping its latest collaboration will really knock fans out. Grateful Dead have teamed up with eyewear brand Knockaround for a new collection of unisex sunglasses, which apply the band’s famous iconography to Knockaround’s bold, modern (and yes, durable) frames.
The officially-licensed collaboration is available now at knockaround.com with pricing starting at $40. The “Roses” sunglasses feature a color-blocked design inspired by the Grateful Dead’s iconic skull and roses motif. The chunky frames are rendered in a jet black colorway, with rose detailing along the bottom and arms.
Subtle nods to the Dead abound, from the row of dancing skeletons etched into the inside of the arms, to the instantly recognizable Grateful Dead logo on the temples. Knockaround says these frames “elegantly balance the dark and the delicate.” The collection also includes a pair of “Steal Your Face” shades, which feature blue polarized lenses and a tie dye-inspired blue “splotch” frame. The red and white checkered pattern on the arms, meantime, is a callback to the back cover of the Dead’s “Europe ’72” live album.
Knockaround calls these “a timeless pair of shades that will keep you feelin’ good from the lot, to the show (and the second show), to the road trip home.” Both pairs of sunglasses are made with impact-resistant lenses with UV400 protection, making them as suitable for the beach and sports as they are for outdoor concerts and festivals. The two designs are available on other Knockaround silhouettes as well. Each pair

Taking Back Sunday have shared new single ‘Keep Going’ – with vocalist Adam Lazzara and guitarist John Nolan talking to NME about embracing pop for their “shiny” new album ‘152’, not wanting to celebrate the past and the much-needed community that playing live offers. The band’s eighth studio album ‘152’ is out this Friday (October 27) and “feels different” to what’s come before, according to Lazzara. “Going into the record, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to make sure everything was miles away from anything we’d done before.”“When you’ve been doing this for as long as we have, there’s a danger it’ll get to a point where nobody cares that you’re putting out new music,” continued Nolan.

John Mayer performed an intro of Grateful Dead‘s ‘Dark Star’ before transitioning into ‘Your Body Is A Wonderland’ during a show in Chicago last week.Back in 2015, the pop-rock star began performing as the touring guitarist for Grateful Dead’s offshoot supergroup Dead & Company – consisting of Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann alongside Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti. The link-up has led to tongue-in-cheek speculation about potential mash-ups of their respective back catalogues over the years.Mayer finally delivered during his show at United Center in Chicago, Illinois last week (October 18).“I’m not going to set it up, this is going to be the weirdest thing you ever saw in your life and I’m proud to do it,” Mayer said (via Rolling Stone).“I want you to mark it on the setlist that this is technically ‘Dark Star.’ And I’m going from ‘Dark Star’ into this next song. It’s a transition.
