Reverend Richard Coles has revealed he was taken into hospital for emergency spinal surgery.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star, 61, shared the news on X where he snapped an image of an IV in his hand. The reverend said he felt a 'tad woozy' and was taken into surgery before he knew it.
He opened up about the experience, writing: "Well I totally get the thing Michael Jackson had for Propofol. Felt a tad woozy next thing I knew I was in recovery with an upgraded spine (not illustrated) having a lovely dream about dirigibles."
The reverend also uploaded a snap of himself as he reclined in a hospital gown, compression stockings, and red grippy socks, reports BirminghamLive.
Well-wishers flocked to the comments to wish him a speedy recovery. One said: "Sending you all the best for a smooth and unproblematic recovery. Love your podcast."
A third wrote: "Richard, I had had no idea that you are ill & in hospital. Sending you all that is good."
Another quipped: "Separated by a common language. Initially thought from this you were doing a special appearance in a Shakespeare play, which would have been cool, then realized you meant a different kind of "theatre"! New improved spine is also v cool - best wishes for a quick recovery!"
Others replied with their own hospital compression stocking selfies of their own as one asked: "Aren’t the white bits non-slip to go on the soles? Hope it all goes well" to which Richard replied: "Both sides!"
Another said: "Best wishes. I will become a member of the no-slip sock community later today, undergoing back surgery."
Richard competed on the BBC programme back in 2017 and retired from the clergy a year ago. Hetold the Sunday Times how he found love with his new partner, 58-year-old actor Dickie
